Cowlishaw PTA Announcements Week of February 29th, 2016
New Information for Events and Activities!

PTA General Meeting: The PTA will have our next General Meeting for families from school to attend on Wednesday, 3/2/16 at Chikfila on Rt. 59 at 9:30 a.m. We had a good turnout at our last meeting held at this location and hope to see lots of faces at this next one! Younger children are welcome and can play in the play area.
Spring “Luau” 3/11/16: The flier for the Spring Luau has gone home and we are looking forward to all attending! Please note this is an All Inclusive (see your students flier) and Pay In Advance event. Further details will follow and should anyone wish to reach Jill directly her email address is:

IPPC Meeting: The Indian Prairie Parents’ Council (IPPC) will host the 8th Annual Student Summer Activities Fair on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 6 to8 pm at Still Middle School (787 Meadowridge Dr., Aurora, IL 60504). Exhibitors at the Student Summer Activities Fair will display summer programs available throughout the community as well as provide high school students with information about volunteer opportunities. Parents of New and Returning Hill Middle School Students: As a courtesy to Hill Middle School, where Cowlishaw students feed into, we would like to inform all new and returning Hill Middle School Parents for the 2016-2017 school year that Hill Middle School PTSA is seeking nominations for 2016-2018 leadership positions. They are currently seeking nominations for Co-President, VP of Membership, VP of Chairs/Volunteers and Treasurer. If you know someone you would like to nominate or want to nominate yourself for any of these open roles, please contact Julia Ballent at for a Nomination Form. This will need to be returned to the Hill Middle School office in an envelope marked “PTSA Nominating Committee” by Wednesday, February 24, 2016.

Science Fair Registration: Cowlishaw PTA Science Fair Registration Open February 8! We need your help! ALL Cowlishaw students are invited to participate in the Cowlishaw Elementary School PTA SCIENCE FAIR on Friday, April 15, 2016.
Participants can register at: and Display Boards are available for purchase for $3 (Orders can be submitted on website). We need volunteers for Science Fair night, especially "Science Experts" to interview our young scientists! No need to be an actual scientist - we just need adult volunteers to speak with the students about their projects! Questions will be provided for the interviews! Cowlishaw Online Book Fair Shopping
Our in-school Book Fair ended last Friday. If you were unable to attend the Fair in person, please visit the online Book Fair at

Online shopping is available until Friday, March 4th.
All orders will be shipped to Cowlishaw and delivered to students after the online book fair ends.

Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC)
The Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC) is hosting Welcoming and including families of diverse mental health needs on Thursday, March 3rd, 7:00-9:00 pm, at CEC (Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive in Aurora). Learn about some of the ways to identify mental health issues among children and what can be done to support mental health with community panelists.
