The Read with Rusty program is returning! The 6-week reading power play is open to all grades and designed to promote a lifelong love for reading, literacy and hockey through partnerships with local libraries and schools. Color a hockey puck every time you read 20 minutes. Fill in all 30 pucks and return your sheet by November 22 for a free game ticket. Attendees can join Steel Mascot, Rusty, and a player or coach for a pre-game reading session, plus all members will receive a Chicago Steel drawstring bag and participate in post-game autograph signing.

Please join us THIS Thursday (October 10th) at Noodles & Company near Whole Foods for our next Dinner Night Out! Be on the lookout for a flyer in backpack mail - or just mention Cowlishaw at the register in order for us to receive a % of your purchase back as a donation to our PTA! As always, thanks for your support!

Calling all artists! Cowlishaw students, unleash your artistic talent through the Reflections program, the national arts program that inspires children to get creative! Students are invited to create works of art in any of six different arts categories, reflecting upon a different theme each year. This year’s theme, “Look Within”, calls for you to let your imagination fly while you reflect on that theme and create original work. There are a lot of guidelines for each category. Please visit our PTA website for complete rules before submission. Projects are due no later than Thursday, October 24th. Please submit projects to the bin labeled “Reflections” at the front entrance of the school. Questions? Contact Faisal Abdullah at or Anica Dubey at

Special Artists - The National PTA Special Artist Division is an option for students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or Section 504 to have the opportunity and accommodations they may need in order to participate fully in the Reflections program. Students may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.

Teachers or parents with questions may contact Special Needs PTA Liaison for more information:
